| The Cabrillo College pre-med club was founded in the Fall of 2005 after several students traveled to Sacramento to attend a pre-med conference at American River College. They said to themselves, “Why can’t we create a network at our school to answer some of our questions? To give each other support? To get to know one another?” In response to these questions, our club was born. After a brief search, Dr. Yves Tan, Ph.D. became our first faculty advisor.
We are now wrapping up our 2nd semester as a club and have learned some quick lessons in maintaining a student organization. A core group of active pre-med/pre-dental students drive the club by promoting Cabrillo College Health Services, volunteering, and networking. For more info on specific activities, please visit our events page.
In addition to these activities, the Cabrillo Pre-Med club is also helping the college to buy advising materials for its students, such as copies of the MSAR (Med. School Admissions Requirements), to be housed at various locations around campus. The Cabrillo College Pre-Med Club is also a pre-med member organization of AMSA (American Medical Student Association). |
