Other actions that are being taken by the college:

  • Managers are being asked to reach out to employees in their unit to conduct a safety check-in.
  • Jon Salisbury, Director of Facilities, and division deans have been given authority by President Wetstein to cancel work or classes outdoors if the Air Quality Index (AQI) is unhealthy, https://www.airnow.gov/ or https://air.mbard.org/.
  • College staff are allowed to use campus offices during the day if their home environment is unsafe and/or the air quality is poor.
  • Similar to COVID planning, people need to be ready for suspension of normal operations with little notice as conditions change.
  • Remember that a significant number of students and employees may be displaced because of fire conditions and damage/loss of residences.

How to Help

Residents displaced by the CZU August Lightning Complex fires are in urgent need of donations. Due to COVID-19 considerations, we request that all donations be in new condition. Please bring all donations to:

HIGH-NEED ITEMS (NEW ONLY)

  • Men’s clothing – pants, t-shirts, shoes, socks, underwear, hoodies, sweatshirts and sweat pants
  • Women’s clothing – pants, t-shirts, shoes, socks, underwear, hoodies, sweatshirts and sweat pants
  • Bath and hand towels
  • Bed sheets/linens – queen-sized and smaller
  • Sleeping pads
  • Pillow cases
  • Ice chests, coolers

* Food donations may be brought to Second Harvest Food Bank.
