Taking the Assessment and Assessment Schedule

Completing the Assessment Process is required for all new, first time students. You want to be as prepared as possible, please read the information below so there are no surprises.

When can I assess?

Assessments sessions are first-come, first-served. Look at the Assessment schedule, choose a scheduled session, arrive early, seating capacity is limited. No appointments nor pre-registrations are taken. We request that students be in line 30 minutes prior to the start time for check-in and seating. There is no late seating. Plan to spend to three hours to complete the Assessment Process.

What am I required to bring?

  • Photo ID: ANY document or card that clearly shows your first and last name and a recent photo of you.  For example: any high school or college ID card, driver's license or state ID card, or passport or green card. NOT VALID and will not be accepted: a FAX of a picture ID or picture of an ID on your phone.
  • Your Cabrillo College 7-digit student ID number (emailed to you after you apply)
  • Certificate of Completion of the online orientation. Screenshot on your phone or a printout.

We recommend you also be prepared to answer questions about your high school GPA and math and English courses. If available, bring a copy of your high school transcript to better answer GPA and course-grade questions. If you do not have access to your transcript information, we will help you to self-report information that is an accurate reflection of your performance in high school.

Parking is enforced.  Allow yourself enough time to find parking and walk to the Assessment location. You risk receiving a $40.00 parking ticket if you do not follow the posted parking regulations. You can park in any student lot by purchasing a $4.00 parking permit from the machines located in each lot. Do not park at a parking meter, in visitor or staff parking. Once you are seated you are not allowed to leave the building to move your car or put more money in the meter.

FREE parking is located along Soquel Drive.

Where Do I Go?

Assessments are provided at both the Aptos campus in the Assessment Center, SAC West 200, and at the Watsonville Center A350 on the 3rd floor. Check the assessment schedule for dates, times and locations.

Things to Know Before I Come:

The Assessment Center is an official testing facility, if you are found in violation of any of the following, your assessment will be terminated and you will be asked to leave.  Additionally, a disciplinary report may filed with the Dean of Student Services.

  • Professional language and behavior is expected at all times.
  • You may not leave the building once you are seated.
  • Prohibited items: Electronic devices including cell phones, tablets and calculators, hats, hoods, and sunglasses, food and drink.
  • Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated.

When Will I Know My Placement?

Immediately after you complete the assessment. We will explain your placement recommendations, recommendations and then direct you to the next steps in the enrollment process. It takes 24-48 hours to process your results and upload them into Student Planning.
