Textbooks and Course Reserve Materials

Information for Students

    Course Reserves

Course Reserve materials for many Cabrillo classes are available for students to use for a limited time. Textbooks and other materials may be found at the following locations:

    • Cabrillo College Library, Aptos
    • Computer Tech Center (CTC), Building 1400, Aptos
    • Computer Tech Center (WCTC), Watsonville
    • Integrated Learning Center (ILC), Watsonville
    • Math Learning Center (MLC), Aptos

If the cost of a required textbook is $50.00 or more, a single copy of those textbooks will be on reserve. This innovative textbook loan program is funded by a generous grant from the Cabrillo College Student Senate. At least one copy of the most expensive required textbooks is on reserve at the library or in other sites serving students. In addition, many other textbooks and materials are placed on reserve by instructors for use by their students.

Reserve textbooks are intended for shared use. Most of the reserve textbooks are located in the Cabrillo library on the Aptos campus. The textbooks for CIS, CS, CABT and DM courses are on reserve in the CTC in Aptos. If the course is taught at the Watsonville Center a copy will be on reserve at the Integrated Learning Center (ILC) in Watsonville or at the Watsonville CTC. Finally, the MLC maintains a collection of the most commonly used current math textbooks.

Reserve materials have limited loan periods. Time limits are strictly enforced to ensure fairness to all. Reserve items are subject to a minimum $5.00 fine one minute after they are due; fines continue to accrue until materials are returned.

    Checking out Reserves

You must have a current Cabrillo College Library card to check out reserve materials. Most reserve materials can be borrowed for two hours. A single reserve item may be checked out at a time. You may borrow two items if the items must be used together. Note: Special Borrowers may check out Reserves for use within the library, but must relinquish the material to any student requesting it.

    6. Return materials to the location you borrowed the items from.
    7. When returning reserve books checked out from the library, you may return them in book return on the right side of the Circulation counter, or hand them directly to a Circulation employee.
