Running Start (May 18, 2012)
Early registration program for graduating high school seniors who are participants with their Santa Cruz County High Schools

Friday, April 27th is the last day to participate in Running Start.  If you are a local Santa Cruz high school senior and have not completed an intent form by April 13th and applied, assessed, and completed your orientation by April 27th you will not be able to participate in Running Start.

What do you need to do?

  1. Apply for fall 2012 admission online beginning April 2ndhttp://www.cccapply.org/applications/CCCApply/apply/Cabrillo_College.html
  2. Complete and submit your Intent to Participate in Running Start form to Admissions and Record two weeks prior to your assessment. Must be completed by April 13th.
  3. Take an assessment test by April 27th.
  4. Complete an orientation by April 27th check with your high school counselor.
  5. Register for classes online offsite ( beginning at 9:00am) or at the Aptos campus on May 18, 9:00-12:00pm.


You must have completed the intent form by April 13th and the application, assessment tests, and orientation by April 27th to be eligible for Priority Registration at Running Start. Special assessment dates have been arranged for Santa Cruz County high schools. Please check with your high school counselor for assessment location and date(s) or at the link below.

To take the assessment:

  • bring picture ID
  • know your Social Security number (used to upload your scores)
  • print out your Cabrillo Student ID number email you received from Admissions and Record (should have received after you submitted the Intent to Participate in Running Start form to Admissions and Record)


To register at Running Start:

  • allow for 1.5 to 2 hours at the Aptos campus
  • LOCATION - Cabrillo College Quad - meet at the flagpole by the Theatre (Bldg. 200)
  • pick up your assessment results if you have not yet received your scores, bring your photo ID and know your social security number
  • get additional help from Cabrillo staff, Counselors and student assistants
  • complete your registration for classes during Running Start
