Getting Started With Canvas at Cabrillo

  • Log into Canvas using your active directory (AD) username and password. These are the same that you would use to log into your Cabrillo email, except without the at the end.
  • Canvas gives you the ability to communicate with students using the Conversations feature. This is only available within the term that the course is set to. Prior to the start of the term in Canvas, you can contact students using WebAdvisor. Read the document or watch the video linked below to see how.
  • Course Creation
    • The current policy is to create courses in Canvas one week after the official schedule is released. This will be done automatically by the system. There is no need to request a course shell.
    • Development shells will not be created automatically by the system. If you would like a development shell, then please send a request to the TLC.
  • Accessibility Guidelines - Online course content must meet the same accessibility standards as for other content on the web
  • Import content from another course
  • Export course content
