Puente Project

Metas / Goals

 

      1. Advocacy in curriculum and program development:
        • Encourage the integration of topics and issues relevant to Latino/as in all disciplines.
        • Advocate for strengthening programs and services that support the success of Latinos/as as the college becomes an official Hispanic Serving Institution.
        • Support the development of a Chicano/a-Latino/a Studies Program.
        • Promote greater visibility of existing programs that focus on issues directly affecting Latinos/as, such as Bilingual/Bicultural Studies.
        • Encourage pedagogical teaching methods that support Latino/a students, including team-taught courses with interdisciplinary perspectives.
        • Support study abroad programs, particularly those in Spanish-speaking countries.
      2. Develop a CHAC website.
      3. Advocate the hiring of faculty and staff reflecting the demographics of the Cabrillo student body.
      4. Raise awareness of local, statewide, and national issues relating to Latino/as, such as immigration reform and bilingualism.
