3rd Annual Social Justice Conference

CHAC

Puente Project

Panel Descriptions: Break Out Sessions 1 & 2

Program

Cabrillo College’s 2nd Annual Social Justice Conference will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2008 from 9:00 to 3:30 and will include a key-note speaker, break-out sessions, and a community fair.

Cabrillo College students, faculty, staff and administrators will present research and creative projects concerning social justice issues, and as with the 2007 conference, community-based organizations will distribute information about their work toward social justice during the lunchtime community fair.

Our keynote speaker is Ms. Banafsheh Akhlaghi, Attorney at Law and founder of the National Legal Sanctuary for Community Advancement, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the human rights and dignity of Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian (MEMSA) peoples.

This year we have added a "Children's Faire" which will provide child-centered activities with social justice themes during both break-out sessions. All ages welcome, but a parent or legal guardian must be present.

Free and open to the public. A light lunch will be served, also at no cost.
