Bus 20 : Introduction to Business

Welcome to all of You! to Introduction to Business 20!

It is great to be teaching "Intro to Bus 20". This course is two-folded beneficial, Not only it will give you the knowledge of the foundations of all activities that are engaged in a business , but also you will have an understating of what it takes to start your own business in the future. This course because it really provides key concepts that provides a framework of interest for students that want to pursue a specialized business field. 

In Introduction to Business, you will study the concepts , principles and operations of private enterprise. You will compare and contrast sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations- and the advantages and disadvantages o each. You will explore the functions of modern business management, marketing and ethics and social responsibility that can improve or tarnish a brand. You will also look at the human resource management side of  running a business and  learn how employers can motivate their employees. Finally, you will address the numbers side of running a business and examine financial statements and first understanding financial management. During this course, you will discuss and learn from several discussion postings based on chosen mini case studies (Videos, discussions topics, Business papers), where you can learn and apply  business key concepts.  

I have been an entrepreneur myself, I have launched three different businesses: One successful Bakery Business " Carmencitas Inc." back in Peru, then a Family restaurant business named "Olinda Restaurants LLC. which, I managed for almost 20 years in California. Currently, I just started an Import-Company "Ancient Table LLC." in California as well.

Now, by sharing, with you my learning process as an Entrepreneur, I truly hope, you will learn what it takes to be " in business". Either working for a corporation or owning your own company.

Introduction to Business (BUS-20) is a course available online and in person that will emphasize collaboration, participation and engagement through online zoom live sessions, discussion postings, video/ case studies and business papers, all of them are graded activities that will enhance your learning experience in BUS 20. For that matter as well, the textbook publisher, McGraw-Hill has a great study tool called "Connect" which will be used to reinforce key concepts for each chapter.   Through this tool you, will be assigned "Learn Smart" modules - you'll navigate to the Connect site through the modules in Canvas.  As long as you've properly set yourself with Connect, clicking to the Learn Smart modules should be easy (see the previous module for instructions)
