Bus 20 : Introduction to Business

It is great to be teaching "Intro to Bus 20". This course is two-folded beneficial, Not only it will give you the knowledge of the foundations of all activities that are engaged in a business , but also you will have an understanding of what it takes to start your own business in the future. This course is aimed to provide the key concepts of a framework of interest for students that want to pursue a specialized business field. 

In Introduction to Business, you will study the concepts, principles and operations of private company. You will compare and contrast sole proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations- and the advantages and disadvantages of each. You will explore the functions of modern business management, marketing and ethics and social responsibility that can improve or tarnish a brand. You will also look at the human resource management side of running a business and learn how employers can motivate their employees. Finally, you will address the numbers side of running a business and examine financial statements; and therefore, having a good grasp of what financial management means. During this course, you will discuss and learn from several discussion forums as well as from other types of assignments such as mini case studies and business papers, where you can learn and apply business key concepts.

I have been an entrepreneur myself, I have launched three different businesses: One successful Bakery Business Carmencitas Inc." back in Peru, then a Family restaurant business named "Olinda Restaurants LLC. Which, I managed for almost 20 years in California. Currently, I just started an Import-Company "Ancient Table LLC." in California as well. Now by sharing, with you my experience as an Entrepreneur, I truly hope, I will spark your interest in understanding and learning more about the business world either to become an entrepreneur or a business professional working for a corporation.

Introduction to Business (BUS-20) is a course available online and in person that will emphasize collaboration, participation and engagement through online zoom live sessions, discussion postings, and video / case studies and business papers, all of them are graded activities that will enhance your learning experience in BUS 20.

BUS 60: International Business

Besides Introduction to Bus 20, I am also teaching International Business, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11.10 am to 12.30 am. This course introduces students to the practices of doing business in today's global environment. The course begins with an overview of the Globalization phenomenon and the key differences that characterized the various countries of the Globe. Then, students will be introduced to trends affecting the global trade and investment environment as well as the strategy and structure of international business. Finally, issues related to international business operations such as production, marketing, logistics, human resources management will be introduced.

The goal of this course is to introduce students to the field of international business. Students should become familiar with three basic areas: underlying theories of international business, environmental factors affecting international activities, and the management of business functional operations in an international context.
