Important Information for Registration

  • Balance from previous semesters

  • Missing application for admissions

  • Residency holds

  • Other holds placed by other departments

  • Not meeting the prerequisites/ corequisites of the course

Waitlist Process

If a course is full, you can add yourself to the waitlist. Once you’re on the waitlist, it’s your responsibility to monitor your position. If a spot opens up, you’ll be notified via email.

  • You’ll have three days to register after receiving the email.

  • If you don’t register for the class within three days, you’ll be dropped from the waitlist.

  • If the course has already started, the permission is no longer valid. You’ll need to get an add authorization from the instructor. After that, you can register via Student Planning. Be sure to use the add authorization by the deadline.

Registration with Add-Authorization

To add a course with an add-authorization, you must go to the class or email the instructor and ask to be granted an add authorization. Once the instructor grants the add-authorization, you can register for the course through Student Planning. Be sure to use the add authorization before the deadline. If you miss the deadline, the instructor will need to submit a Late-Add form on your behalf.

Registration with a Late-Add form

Late-add forms are submitted by instructors to Admissions and Records via eforms. It may take 1-10 business days to process these forms.

  • If you meet all the requirements and have no restrictions, we’ll register you for the class.

  • If there are issues such as restrictions, Admissions & Records will reach out to the student via email or phone. If the student does not take action, the form will be declined.

Reinstatement Form

If you accidentally dropped the course after it started, or the instructor mistakenly dropped you, the instructor needs to submit a reinstatement form via eforms to Admissions and Records. We’ll reinstate you to the course if everything is in order.

Dropping A Course

Each course has its deadline for adding or dropping. For more information, check the Dates and Deadlines page. If the course is short-term, you can find the deadlines on the Short-Term/Open Entry Section Registration Dates sheet.

Important: Dropping a course may affect your Financial Aid eligibility, please reach out to the Financial Aid department for more information at financial.aid@cabrillo.edu.
