College Level Examination Program (CLEP)

To request the use of CLEP credit toward your degree:
Send an official copy of the CLEP results to Cabrillo.
Meet with an Academic Counselor to review your CLEP results and start the process to apply scores to meet requirements.
Important Note: CLEP may not be used for IGETC.

CLEP Chart for Cabrillo Degrees
If a student passes more than one CLEP test in the same language other than English (e.g. two exams in French), only one examination may be applied to the baccalaureate.
For each test in a language other than English, a passing score of 50 is considered "Level I" and earns six units of baccalaureate credit;
A passing score higher than 50 is considered "Level II" and earns additional units of credit and placement in Area C2, as noted.
CLEP Chart for CSU
If a student passes more than one CLEP test in the same language other than English (e.g. two exams in French), only one examination may be applied to the baccalaureate.
For each test in a language other than English, a passing score of 50 is considered "Level I" and earns six units of baccalaureate credit;
A passing score higher than 50 is considered "Level II" and earns additional units of credit and placement in Area C2 of CSU GE Breadth, as noted.
*These units count toward eligibility for admission. The units might not apply towards Associate Degrees for Transfer (ADT) or the baccalaureate degree. The units might not all apply toward certification of the corresponding GE-Breadth area. See Executive Orders 1036 and 1100 Revised for details. Areas of GE Breadth (A1 through E) are defined in EO 1100 Revised (August 23, 2017). Areas of American Institutions (US-1 through US-3) are set fourth in Sections 1A and 1B of EO 1601, and at ASSIST.org
