Rick Gubash joined the Cabrillo College Team in July 2021 as the Accessibility Support Center Director. He previously worked at UC Santa Cruz as the Director of the UCSC Disability Resource Center. He is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities Campus; BA in Psychology) and holds a Masters in Rehabilitation Counseling from Minnesota State University-Mankato. He has served the disability community for over 30 years and his academic environment passions include inclusive course and environmental designs that knock down barriers for people with disabilities. His common quotes are "follow the ADA interactive process" "nothing about us without us" "we are knocking down access barriers" and "access is all of our responsibility". He is committed to all aspects of inclusion and is a big fan of the books Academic Ableism (Jay Dolmage), How to Be and Anti Racist (Ibram X Kendi)and the film Crip Camp. When away from work, he can be found wandering by hiking trail or ocean kayak. He has lived in Santa Cruz County with his amazing wife and partner for the last eight years and has a strong affiliation with his Minnesota roots.
