Yes, if you attended a local high school you are eligible to apply for FYE regardless of your status.

No. To get the full benefits of FYE, you need to sign up and participate from the beginning. The program starts August 12-16, with FYE Bridge Orientation Week, before classes start for the Fall semester.

FYE Program, support services and events are completely free! Coming Soon: additional incentives such as a book grant and additional free events and activities.

Keep in mind that registration and student fees will be charged for all classes that you enroll in, whether you are part of FYE or not. These fees are charged and then paid from financial aid awards for qualified students. Some students may have a balance depending on their financial aid award package.

You must have a financial aid application on file. Either a FAFSA or CA Dream Act Application. We will then work with the Financial Aid Office to determine your eligibility for the Book Grand.

No! FYE is meant to support your studies and help make the transition to college easier, not to overwhelm you with extra work.

FYE is a year-long Learning Community; that is Fall 2024 and Spring 2025.

Opt-out scheduling allows FYE Program Staff to register you for classes that are part of the FYE Program. You will be registered into classes with other students in your CAP, these courses will help fulfill your GE requirements to meet your goal of an Associate Degree or transfer to a UC, CSU, or private university. Being in these courses with other FYE students helps create strong relationships with your classmates; this fosters peer support - its' easier then to form study groups to support each other with content and assignments.

No problem, you can change some of the classes if you don’t like the classes chosen for you. However, you need to be enrolled in CG 1 and at least one more FYE class in order to be part of the program.

Note: FYE classes are part of the General Education requirements for any degree, therefore you will need to take similar courses at some point to fulfill the GE requirements. View the class schedules
