The Rationale for Integration of Student Equity (SE), Basic Skills Initiative (BSI) and Student Success and Support Program (SSSP):
The Chancellor's Office has been undergoing an effort to integrate SE, BSI, and SSSP. These programs were selected as a starting point for integrative efforts for two main reasons: 1) all three have the same ultimate goal of increasing student success while closing achievement gaps; and 2) there is a strong potential for overlap between and among the programs.
As Cabrillo College initiates its integrated planning (IP) efforts, it is important for IP coordinators to facilitate a process for writing the new Integrated Plan that is inclusive, collaborative, and relevant to our Guided Pathways efforts.

Who is it for?
- Disproportionately Impacted students according to our local metrics
- Any student who's faced institutional and social barriers to their success
- Students and faculty that believe diversity and difference help us learn
How does it help?
The intent of equity efforts and planning is to ensure equal educational opportunities and to promote student success for all students, regardless of race, gender, disability, or economic circumstances. Many students face social and institutional barriers to their success. Equity seeks to identify those barriers and provide each student with the opportunities they need in order to excel.

These services orient you to the world of college through an online ORIENTATION; help place you in the correct math and English classes through ASSESSMENT; and help you identify a major, a career goal and how to get there the fastest way through an EDUCATION PLAN. SSSP also partners you with a counselor who can explain the confusion that college degrees, career certificates and transfer can sometimes be.
