If you have an employer already identified or you would like help finding an employer, please fill out the Enrollment Request Form. You will hear back from the course instructor within 1 week on your next steps in the enrollment process. Before you can be authorized to add the section, your selected employer will need to fill out an Employer Agreement. Once the Employer Agreement is submitted you can be authorized to register for the course.


This course can be offered in a range of units from .5 to 12, most students select 1-4 units, however half unit increments are possible. For each 1 unit students must complete a minimum of 54 hours of work experience or internship hours. Your decision should be based on a few factors: if you want to complete a requirement for an elective or if you need to achieve full-time status (if that is your goal). You can talk about this more with the Internships and Work Experience Coordinator.


The class has a set number of assignments no matter how many units you sign up for. Here is a sample Syllabus with more details about the course content.

The Internship and Work Experience class runs each term (Fall, Spring, Summer), the course assignments begin approximately the third week of school. Students can register for this class up until the 12th week of the regular term and 6th week of the Summer term. Please note you must be able to complete the assignments and hours during your enrollment period.

Yes, the same processes run for the Summer term, just in a shorter 8 week window of time.

Sections are built as needed since students select a variety of units. You may see some sections in the schedule because they have been created for specific students who requested them. You can not register yourself because you must submit an Employer Agreement to the Internship and Work Experience instructor in order to qualify for the course. (See “How to register for course” question above for details on how to do this.

Yes, students can earn college credit for work experience at a job they currently work at.

If towards the end of the semester you are not able to meet the hours or you do not have time to complete the assignments, you may request an Incomplete and finish the assignments or hours later.

There are no set required class meetings however there are recommended meetings on zoom and office hours that will be shared by the instructor in the canvas courses. The course is delivered primarily on Canvas and is self-paced with due dates for each assignment built in throughout the semester.
