Our journalism program has a robust internship program linking students with well-paying internships with local employers. These are real jobs in the industry, providing students with invaluable hands-on experience. Students work closely with leaders in the industry and gain not only skills but networking opportunities and a portfolio to use when ready to launch their career.

Rebele Journalism Scholarship
Pat and Rowland Rebele started supporting Cabrillo students in 1986, providing over a million dollars in gifts.
Rowland was particularly passionate about the Journalism program, awarding scholarships to students to intern with local businesses from the Santa Cruz Sentinel, Pajaronian, to KUSP radio station, to Lookout. Students receive hands-on learning to propel them in their future careers.
The Rowland & Pat Rebele Journalism Scholarship was established to support Cabrillo College Journalism students who participate in local media internships, with the goal of enhancing their educational opportunities and future job prospects.
To qualify for this scholarship, students must meet the following:
Must be a Cabrillo Journalism student
Students should be enrolled or have completed the advanced writing class, Journalism 23, or be on the staff of the Voice student newspaper.
Must be participating in local media internship
Must complete application below and include portfolio of published works
Awards range from $600 to $2,400.
