Reading Center
Cabrillo College Reading Center has locations in the Learning Center at the Aptos and at the Watsonville Campus.
Students enrolled in reading courses can utilize resources to advance their reading skills or sit with a book or magazine in the reading area. The Reading Center offers reading classes in a group setting as well as self-paced programs for individual students. Self-paced individual courses target reading skills for improvement. For each unit of enrollment, students spend 30 hours on a personalized learning program. Reading speed, comprehension, vocabulary and study skills are evaluated through reading tests. Coursework is designed to help individual students focus on weak areas. Students work at their own pace using books, tapes and computers to complete lessons based on their skill level and learning style. One or two unit can be earned each semester in individual reading courses which can be taken up to four times. Drop-in hours allow students to fit course time into their schedules.
