What is a Learning Community?

Success ~ Support ~ Friends!

Learning Communities are a great way to connect with a supportive network of classmates, teachers, and academic advisers with common interests or backgrounds.

You can take classes with a small group of students who share your background or interests, enjoy related activities outside the classroom, and, as a learning community member, access added support and resources, including counseling, peer and faculty mentoring, and more.

Cabrillo College has a wide variety of Learning Communities, including one that's right for you!

Why should you join a Learning Community?

  • Students who take learning communities are likely to do well in their courses.

  • Our smaller class sizes impact students' ability to connect with their peers, share their ideas and broaden their perspectives

  • Accomplish career and transfer goals.

  • One-on-one support meetings with faculty & academic advisor

  • You’re more likely to be actively involved in campus life and activities.

  • Connections to Cabrillo resources

  • Workshops- Canvas, Financial aid, Scholarships, Pláticas & more

  • Fun activities & events!
